She smiled…

You are the fragrance

You are the delight

When you look like that

Light with a gentle touch

With the mouth curled up at the corners

With the slightest of a smile

Just a ghost of a smile

Bemused, like Mona Lisa

With her ever radiant look and

Slightest of smiles and

You see through the words

Tilting your head to one side and looking

Quizzically at one, yes…amazed

Asking without words....yes, what are you saying?

I say, hey, it is the same girl in the coffee shop

Looking through the mirror to the other side of the wall

Tilting her head to one side and saying: I know you

She clicks her two fingers and says: I know you

You are the one who loves to enjoy life

Goes and does a bit of work...yes I know you!

She walks, as if she breathes, gently wavering over the ground

As if the ground would sigh in pain

If she stepped on it...

She likes the birds and watches them

Fly and would not pick a flower

Because it will hurt

She says: I know you…you are the one

Who breaks the stem and takes the 

Flower from its resting place...unthinkingly

And then throws it away petal by petal

Why? Does it not have a soul…

Is it not in pain?

And you look bemused, at this angel

Tilting her head to one side, and looking through you

With the slightest of smiles…saying: “Hey I know you!”

She laughs with a twinkle in her eyes and a

Tinkle in her laugh like

Small glasses making a lovely sound

From afar, tinkling in the distance with a

Sweet sound blowing across the wind

Sounding far and wide and yet so gentle...she laughs

Like the far away tinkling of bells and daffodils…
